Lots of them. I'm going through and binning/composting loads of paperwork and contracts for the bands I've played with over the last 30 odd years. Currently working through the stuff for a barn dance band with which I played and managed for 7 or 8 years between2000 and 2008.

I'd forgotten just how much work we'd had and how far we used to travel for gigs. I'm looking at some of these old contracts and I can remember the venue and location. Some really stick in the mind, like the wedding we did on a pig farm near Shrewsbury. Very posh affair, but it stank of pigsh1t all evening!

I have the stuff from a touring band from the 90s and several other smaller bands to go through yet.

It's quite hard to let this stuff go really, as it was such a huge part of my life for so long, but I just don't have the space to keep it all.

Can't you scan it so you would at least have a digital copy? Photograph it from your phone as a second option?

There's just too much of it Seeker. There were dozens and dozens of items just from the Ceili Band folder.

Except for one or two bits, it's now in the compost heap.

It has to be done Gary. I'm just as bad at hanging on to mementos of my 30 years in the Suzuki OC, despite the fact that they were so unbelievably rude to me and I told them to foxtrot oscar in the end. Photos (35mm film) of 80's camping weekends, people I've not seen for 25 years and probably never will again, rally badges and patches for a denim jacket I binned decades ago... I also keep odds and ends in the garage and shed in case they "come in useful", just like my dad. So much clutter.

I'm a bugger for hoarding stuff. I still have electricity & gas bills from my previous house when I was with my ex. That was nearly 20 years ago

Now you've reminded me of another job I've got to do. Go through my bills folder and chuck out anything more than two years old. Then file this year's bills. Another hour or two wasted.

Maybe this should go on the grumpy old men thread...
