Default kill spills rally - september

copied from another site

The KillSpillls Team, now sponsored by the BMF have launched a new website for this year’s campaign and London rally to No10 and Westminster.
If you were on this site last year you’ll know all about the campaign and where it came from. The campaign was born from this forum and the MCNNinjas forum and it members. We have gone from strength to strength, and now we have a sponsor, the BMF. The BMF will be helping with all aspect of the campaign what we as ordinary bikers can do.

You can find out more at out new website: www.killspills.org.uk

We now want to know who will be coming to the rally this year (not marshals) email me at killspills05@darrenbourne.co.uk and let me know ONLY if your coming.

Thanks

FOR INFORMATION:

The second annual KillSpills Rally (Saturday 10th September 2005) runs from the
Ace Café London to the Palace of Westminster via Number 10 Downing Street.

It will be a great fun filled day delivering a serious road safety message to the home of democracy.

Join in the Ace Café's 11th Ace Café Reunion Weekend bash and then ride through Central London with all road junctions kindly closed by the Metropolitan Police to allow YOU an un-interrupted ride to Westminster. The route we will take will pass a lot of the major sights, so there will be plenty of opportunity for you to wave at passers by and hopefully tell the public about the campaign when you are parked up at Millbank.
We had the BBC filming us last year and we will be aiming to get more TV and press coverage this year.

As the rally starts from the Ace Café, we ask all riders to be at the Ace for 11am. The KillSpills Team and KillSpills Marshals will be on hand to answer your questions on the campaign and the Metropolitan Police will be there to brief rally riders and to escort the rally to Westminster.

Our sponsors, the BMF and many supporters, MAG, MCI, Fast Bikes, TWO, MCN, Virgin will also be joining in the fun.

Those of you who joined us last year will (hopefully) have had a memorable day and we look forward to meeting you all again. For those of you who could not make the rally last year, come and join us this year, you don’t know what you are missing!
• -Help us to show the Government and general public that diesel spills present a real danger to ALL road users.
• -Help us to show the Government and general public that us bikers are a caring and responsible group of people, who take the issue of road safety seriously.
The route will take the rally from the Ace Café onto the North Circular road, heading towards Hangar Lane. We then take the A40 to Paddington, Park Lane, Marble Arch, Constitution Hill, Queen Victoria Memorial, The Mall, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and the bikes will park up along Millbank. On the return journey, the rally will leave Whitehall, go along Birdcage Walk, ride in front of Buckingham Palace and down Constitution Hill, then following the same route back to the Ace Café.

Each rider will receive a goodie bag courtesy of our sponsors the BMF and supporters Bennetts. This year we have organised a team to hand out A5 flyers to the public around Buckingham Palace, the Mall, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall, explaining what the rally is about

We had the BBC filming us last year and we will be aiming to get more TV and press coverage this year.

KillSpills T-shirts are available to purchase before the rally, with all proceeds going to the BMF Foundation fighting fund for research and road safety. To order your T Shirt click here (link no available yet)

The KillSpills team really appreciate your support, we can and will make a difference, and your attendance here today re-enforces our safety message.

• Are you fed up with diesel spills on our roads?
• Do you think something should be done about it?
• Do you want to improve road safety?
• Do you want to take part in the largest ever motorcycle rally in London?

If you have answered yes to any of the above questions, then join us and many others at the 2nd annual KillSpills Rally.

so who is coming ?

Just wanted to add my weight to this arguement as i have always felt strongly about this issue.

Ive never before had an incident thru diesel, but knew the dangers well. However the other night turning into the BP garage off the A1237 York Ring road, i was following my mate on his thundercat, and BOTH of us had the backs of out bikes step out by about 1 foot. After parking up, and having a look, it was diesel. Thankfully the low speed meant we could control it, but if we'd have been going any faster it could have been nasty.

Get your names down, and lets KILL SPILLS FOR GOOD!

top man , you know it makes sense.

and it gives bikers the oppertunity to show that we are normal civilised people - not the hooligans that the press make out (and i might be on TV )

LATEST NEWS -

quote from another site.

Over the past two days, I have not only been on a Bikesafe London course, but had meetings with the Ace Café London, Fast Bikes and the Met Police, all of whom are totally behind the rally.

Mark, the owner of eth Ace is really pulling out the stops for the rally, Fast Bikes are covering us in their September and October editions (the October issue goes on sale the week before the rally) and the Police have given us loads of things to consider….. again, I will do a more detailed note over the weekend, and remember the BMF are sponsoring the rally this year and each rider will receive a goody bag!

Last years rally was fantastic, this years will be out of this world.

The people who have volunteered to be marshals will be getting a separate note, you guys are going to have a fantastic day. We have all the Group A marshals we need but we still need about another dozen or so general marshals to ride on the outside if the rally, to keep the riders from venturing into the path of the Police Officers and Group A Marshals.

So come on get your name down as a marshal, it will make a top day, that bit special, and you will be helping us, cos without you the rally cant go ahead. People who want to marshal can e mail me stephenedwardsr1@hotmail.com, or PM me here

Cheers

Steve
