Footrest/brake pedal

Having same problem (on friends bike. K6 sv650) as Girth did in the thread below with brake pedal binding after strip, clean and re assembly?

if you greased the pivot it could be the grease causing stiction. IIR i had the same problem.

remedy is to remove the MC link rod from the cleat and give the pedal a good old push and wiggle till it frees up.

if you haven't greased the pivot then do it.

also you could have tightened the bolt too much.

Hey my lover thanks for reply. Will give that a go cheers. I can't get my head round the fact it all worked before cleaning and was re assembled properly with the washer etc and wont budge but if you take out the thin washer it slops about when tightened up, surely the washer can't change the space that much. Hmm

as said you might have tightened the bolt too much. if all else fails shave a bit off the pedal to bolt hole surface.

have you checked that the pedal moves freely before attaching the MC rod?

As far as im aware it was disconnected from m/c rod. Might give the shave thing a go when i get chance. Still strange how it seems to have changed size/tolerance just by cleaning it If you take washer off and then as an experiment push it into the gap between pedal and mounting plate it takes up the slop and works, but if you put it back on properly it wont move. Why don't you live next door Bibs xGx

Firstly thanks Bibs for guidance as always. Ok for anyone else that has the same problem here's something that might help you.
After much head scratching and bibs help and comment on shaving, it turns out that the foot peg has been a little loose for a while (and if i can explain this well enough) and has worn down the area where it mounts just enough so that when its been cleaned and reinstalled it acts like a vice on the brake pedal, so the washer is too thick now, so slightly thinner washer equals less grip on brake pedal and lets it move again.
Now i hope my explanation helps with anyone else who has same problem
