Default Possible Dead Battery?

My sv has been stood for 6 months as i was away but I had orgainsed for it to be started and run for 5 minutes every month to keep the battery going. After 2 months there was not enough power to even keep the lights going.

After I returned i have atttemped to bump start it, walked up the hill 3 times and it still didnt start and then moved on to jump starting of my z750

The bike starts fine but as soon as you disconnect it from the z's battery the sv dies instantley. Tried this 3 times on the last time the bike was running for a good 30 seconds at 5k and it still died as soon as it was diconnected

I am right in saying that the battery is so weak that it can't even provied enough charge to keep the FI system going? Is thier any solution apart from a new battery.

Thankyou

5 minutes running will not add the charge that starting the bike took out. First of all charge the battery up properly on an optimate or similar. It's possible the battery's dead but try the usual tests for voltage accross the battery when running and not running to see if the reg/rec and other electrics are ok.

Edit: Try this thread http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...t=test+battery
