Evening all. The snow here has pretty much gone at the lower levels but there is still some hanging on in the hills. I had to go to Welshpool this morning and they've had a lot more there, quite a bit of which is still on the ground. I also had to go across to Dolgellau yesterday, and although the mountains still have a fair bit on the tops, there's very little everywhere else once you get west of Bwlch Oerddrws.
Been a busy time here with one thing and another. Over to Dolgellau yesterday afternoon with daughter Eleri for a small musical engagement. Then back home for a quick bite to eat before we headed back out the door, collected a friend, and drove over to Mallwyd for the Mari Lwyd which started at the Brigands Inn and finished at y Llew Coch. We were playing with a group of musicians for the dancers. The final bit of that was a mini twmpath on the street in Dinas Mawddwy at 10.30pm. It was bloody cold! All good fun though, and a chance to catch up with old friends, some of whom we hadn't seen all year. Finally got back home at 2am this morning, then up again at 8am to get Eleri to the station for her train back to Shrewsbury. Been knackered all day. I can no longer burn the candle at both ends like I used to! How's the weekend been for everyone?

Was meant to be in Norfolk with mum for the first anniversary of dad's passing, but with the terrible weather forecast she told us not to come. We only had a few flurries in the end but I made use of my extra spare time by stripping, cleaning and sharpening both my hedge trimmers. Was effing cold in the garage mind!

Weather has been good up here with one very small flurry of snow all winter so far, yes its cold but sunnyish.
Been working on a systemdek IIX turntable i got on ebay about 8 years ago for a steal. Motor powersupply needed overhauled with phasing capacitors and resistor of the correct spec. Main bearing cleaned and new ball bearing and fresh oil. Its now running at 33.3rpm according to my laser speed meter. It now has a rewired Rega RB250 and a nice new Audio Technica ATVM95C cartrage. Today will see me set up the alignment of the cartrage then hopefully set it up in my main system for a listen. Once done its off to the eldest son. |

Morning all. Well, January has been anything but quiet so far, so much going on here. I'm going to need a holiday to recover! Off to Cardiff later today, to take daughter Eleri back to uni. I'm going to stay overnight so I can go to the Chapter Arts folk session, then drive back tomorrow. I really don't fancy another there and back in a day.
Hope everyone has a good day today.

Morning all. Bit of a grey start to the day here, but the forecast is for some sunshine thankfully. Long nights and grey days are getting a bit much now.
The trip to Caerdydd on Tuesday was a bit of a pain with most of the A483 road closed from from Dolfor to Crossgates, due to fallen trees. The satnav took me round some tiny, single track lanes out above Llanbister. Nice on a dry, summers day ride on the bike, with great views, but not much fun in a car with a long journey ahead. Got there eventually though, in time to go across to the Chapter Arts Centre in Canton for a great session with a fine bunch of musicians, a couple of whom I'd not seen for several years. Great to have tunes and a catch up with them. The journey back next day was fairly easy as the previously blocked road had been cleared, so no detours. Been pretty busy with stuff since getting back but next week looks like being a bit quieter, which I shall be pleased about! How's everyone's week been?

A quiet week here. I'm repairing the damage that a leaky pipe caused in our utility room last year.. The pipe was installed under the floor buried in concrete. The leak only became apparent when the plaster on the walls started to blister and peel. The pipe was rerouted and I've had a dehumidifier running since to dry out the room. It's now dry enough to repair the plaster and repaint.

It's been a tough week - with no news yet on my potential move to three days going through, looks like I need to chair a disciplinary meeting at one of our far-flung depots next week, needing a lot of paperwork prep, and I've had very little exercise. I'm looking forward to spending as much of the weekend as possible outside to wort off the stresses of it all.
However, at least I have no plumbing to be done. You have my sympathies there John!
