Re: Handguards on a YBR125
I imagine the distance between lever pivot and end of bar is pretty similar on most bikes. The issue would be whether the bolts holding the levers are the same diameter, and whether there are any bulky bits of switch that would get in the way. The DL650 guards fit to extended lever pivot bolts. Anyway, as above, if you guys compare switch gear and decide there is a possibility you are welcome to come look and see if they would work.
Bar muffs are warmer, and they can stay on, but some people don't get on with having to slide hands in. Tucano Urbano do some for scooterists that have the bar end pass through, so they don't push back with the headwind and put your brakes on for you. Not cheap though. http://shop.scootech.co.uk/tucano-ur...from-114-p.asp |

Re: Handguards on a YBR125
Gloves are no doubt the next sensible step before modifying the bike hehe. And cheers SJ for that

Re: Handguards on a YBR125
Have PM'd YorkieChris with moby in case you think its feasable and worth the trip to see if they might fit before commiting cash to the project. Have seen them on fleabay for around £45, but dealers seem cheapest at around £35. Good luck figuring something.

Re: Handguards on a YBR125
You might not get guards to "fit" a YBR, but they should be easily bodgeable. Advantage of guards over mitts (aside from not looking ridiculous) is they protect the levers and bar ends if you drop the bike. Muffs can interfere with the controls, but there is unlikely to be enough windblast on a 125 for that to be a problem. HG and others also do 3-fingered gloves. They would keep a lot more heat in the hands than normal ones.

Yeah we were thinking of taking a run over to Hein Gericke and having a bit of a browse. Not sue how I'd fare with those weird lobster looking gloves, I like to have free movement of me digits

Re: Handguards on a YBR125
Hand guards are for aggressive filtering and removal of wing mirrors
The best bet is some decent gloves or maybe some silk liners for the ones you have? |

Re: Handguards on a YBR125
Have a look at some XT600 hand guards. The do the same job but they only attach at the bar and not at the bar ends, so they should be a pretty universal fit. That means they only give wind/rain protection and no crash protection when they would just fold, lots of people sell them and change for Acerbis ones that attach at the bar because they want that protection off-road or are modding the bike up to expedition spec.
Forget bar muffs, you slide your hands in, so if you crash the muffs stay on the bike and your bare hands say hello to tarmac! (So you got a YBR? I saw the post saying Chris wanted to get you a new bike, but assumed he was looking for another CG. Did you stick up a thread with photos? Off to do a search.) |
