Won't do any harm to top up with distilled water. Did you use pre-mixed coolant last time it was filled, or did you mix it yourself? Pre-mix is generally good down to a stupidly low temperature for this country (it's something like a 60/40 mix when you could probably get away with 75/25), so topping it up now and then with distilled water shouldn't do too much harm. What I'd do is alternate distilled water and a mix every other time you top up.

Nice one , it was premix , I put 200 ml of distilled water in but that was too much and was over F line , Fish tank tube to the rescue !

Now just under Full

On my own bike I don't really bother about coolant level in the expansion tank, so long as there's something in it it be right.

On other peoples bikes I do ensure it's spot on though just in case

No! The expansion tank is under the right hand side of the tank, but if you want to check the radiator then you have to take a side pannel off. You will need to remove the seat to lift the tank.

Checked my level yesterday, which is on low. How do you get to the coolant bottle to top it up? You don't have to lift the tank for this surely? Sorry I'm being a clueless beginner.

Yes it is pretty difficult to check right level without paddock or centre stand.
