I always do, it can't hurt

Just a dab of synthetic grease on the threads.

be careful using a torque wrench with bolts that have copper grease on them, always drop the recommended torque or you run the risk of stripping threads, especially on aluminium.

Most stainless fasteners are not much stronger than grade 2 because stainless is low carbon and does not harden very well. Even so if overtorqued the aluminium thread will doubtless strip before bolt breaks. Some sources say reduce torque by up to 20% if thread is lubricated because torque values given are for dry thread which has more friction. Both the thread friction and head to part friction are taken into account when required torque value is decided.

316 grade stainless bolts can be up to grade 5 tensile, but generally yield strength of stainless (it 'stretchiness' ) is lower than normal steel bolts.
