Default Nightmare of a k1

Just when I thought 99 k1 couldn't worse. The lower pin on the front callipers somehow cameout (retaining split pin must have come loose) - the pin has come out an gouged it's way into the wheel spokes by about 2 mm on each one.

As well as replacing a cheap part I am guessing I need to change the wheel as the structure will be weakened now.

If this is the case where can you get them as I can't find any and I am a bit worried about 2nd off ebay incase it's not true.

cheers

PB

A 1999 model is an 'X' and a 'K1' is a 2001 model, both are Curvy's and share the same parts that you require.

Is there visible damage to the front wheel, do you have a photo?

The part numbers;

Pin: 59141-44B01
Clip: 69142-45000

They are available online from Robinson's (2-3 day delivery) or from you Suzuki dealer.

Any front wheel from a 1999 to 2002 SV650 will fit, if you need a new one, and there are two colours silver of gunmetal.

As shown above the best place to look for one is on Ebay, or start a thread in the wanted section on this forum.

Cheers

Alas since buying it this year I have shelled out about £800 on various things (rectifier, battery, new boots & shoes, services and carb balancing but this is just the latest set back. It's a shame as she is superb when she runs but there has hardly been a month go by trouble free.

Unfortunately the damage to the wheel is very visible there is a gouge about 2mm in depth and 5mm wide and 10mm long on all 3 spokes. I'm sure the wheel would hold but if I ever need to hit the brakes hard it might not take the extra pressure.

Worst thing now is the old mrs is giving me hassle to get shot of it ...

I would hazard a guess that the previous owner neglected the bike, SV's are reliable when treated right like virtually all bikes.

I would replace that wheel just in case as the spokes are hollow, does sound worse than I first thought, although if you do get rid of the SV make sure you inform the potential buyer.

tell her she'll need to go first-where you based mate-maybe there's a orger who stays close that can give your bike the once over and pass on any sv advice and maintenance/service tips.
