Default Automatic choke rapid fall off?

My pointy is now three years old with fifteen tho on the clocks. The automatic choke has been playing up with the cold weather. The bike will go on full choke then after 30 seconds or more just suddenly drop off to the tick over speed. The tick over sounds rough at start but does get better when bike is warmed up a bit. the old chokes you could pull it full out the half out then a bit more till warm. ( sounds like something else that) any ideas to the first bit please.

Well, the weathers warmer so the choke needs to be on for less time, so it's probably going down to tickover quicker. As for the rough running, when was the bike last serviced?

Is your idle speed too low? Are the throttle bodies balanced?
