Default I need a helmet holder !!!!

Hi all,

I am now the proud owner of a brand new Shoei XR1000 and this time i intend to give it much more loving care than I did my previous one (a comfortably fitting cheapy type!).
I just finished reading the 'how to use your helmet properly' section of the manual that came with and it reminds me to NOT use the handle bars or mirror stalks as a temporary helmet holder. I must admit to have been guilty of this wanton act of abuse on several occasions, if not every time I got off the bike to take gloves/gear off etc.

As I want my new Shoei to last a lot longer than the last helmet I wondered how can I place the helmet on the bike, quickly, conveniently and safely rather than placing it on the tarmac (as i used to do with the old one ) or do a rather precarious balancing act with it on the rear passenger seat. (Yes, I really did do this arrggghh)

I really would appreciate any nifty tips or suggestions before I fall into my old habits again and my precious new Shoei goes the same way as the old one.

Please help!!!

Jon.

We never NEVER put our helmets anywhere on the bike. We take our gloves off, lay them on the ground and put the helmet on top.

it is ritualistic.. a joy to watch !.. just pete naked on a full moon puts yer off yer ice cream and chips at betsy- co-oed. (soory for sp Mike!)

seriously- I dropped mine on to gravel after "poppin it on the seat for 2 mins"- scratched it- chipped it and totally pooped the iridium visor.. and it peed me off. and mine only a £150 one..

it cant fall off the floor.. !! ever- so like said- pop yer gloves on the floor then put it on them maybe tucked in tight to your bike on the left side so u dont forget it if you come to move the bike etc.

wouldnt risk it matey with such a nice lid. ..

I dont leave mine anywhere and like Lissa, mine goes on the floor rather than perched on the bike.

However... if you want to you can pop the pillion seat off and then theres two metal hooks under there that you can clip your helmet onto if you want to. But in busy places I dont like to do this either. So it goes with me.

That's MS Lissa to you!

A helmet holder only holds the helmet, it doesn't guarantee to keep it safe from damage. It can still get knocked, chipped, used as a rubbish bin or, worst case scenario, a toilet

You can buy helmet bags that are extra strong and have fixings to connect to the helmet lock, but ours go with us, a la Fizz
