Fitted the new battery (replacing the original 9-year-old job, not a bad lifespan), lubed the chain and cables, then had a bright, breezy and slightly chilly 120-mile ride which did me and the bike a power of good.

Chain and clutch adjusted.

Managed to mangle the wheel adjuster washer and mark the swing arm with it. It'll have to wait 8 weeks for when the tyre gets changed before a new washer is put on.

My first "mechanical" feat was to replace the surfboard on the back with a rather nice tail tidy and smaller indicators. Managed to do it with very little swearing and only a minor moment of confusion.

Bike looks a hell of a lot better with the tail tidy in place. Just waiting on a new double bubble screen.

In the spring I might do some actual proper mechanics to the bike.

Took out the baffle and welcoming 2016 with a pop to mum's house with a spare insulin pen.
Happy new year.

Not today exactly but after my colleague and I spent a week and a half of work/wholesale replacement of ancient/knackered components with newer kit we have a stable and reasonably fast community broadband system operating. More major changes coming at the end of the month as we start building some redundancy into the system.

We now have a large collection of old client bridges/access points so we are intending to line them up later in the year for an afternoon of beer and catapults!
