Default Where's good and where do I avoid?

Due to the other half having started a new job on your side of the big smoke it looks like we'll be relocating to the Aylesbury area. Whereabouts would people recommend we look at (areas with good schools, etc.) and where to avoid like the plague?

If "Road Wars" is anything to go by I'd avoid anywhere within Pikey distance of the Britwell Estate...

I lived in Aylesbury for a bit. If you can afford it live in Wendover or one of the villages outside the main town. Its a bit of a crap hole TBH, but I never had any real problems there. i lived on the Bedgrove estate, which has a bad rep, but my road was fine. Pretty cahvvy but I never got any bother.

EDIT - you said area. well Oxford is just up thew road and 100% better than Aylesbury. More expensive too though I'm afraid. Thame is OK too but a little small.

Anyone with any advice I could use? Yes, I do watch road wars so I know all about the Britwell estate. Oxford is a tad too far out I'm afraid. The wife works in Northwood and Aylesbury across to High Wicombe is as far west as we're willing to go.

really depends on your budget
There are lots of nice places to live around that way but they come with a price
Wycombe is ok as long as you stay out of the town centre and stick to the west side of it
Piddington, Downley, Radnage, saundeton are all nice

On the way to Aylesbury are places such as Princess Risborough (a small village which is mainly a retirement town) kingshill and wendover are nice but again expensive.
other places such as chesham (near the a41) are nice
Further past Aylesbury is wing which is as close as i would go to aylesbury

to get from Wycombe to Aylesbury in Non rush hour takes about 30 minutes. In rush hour would probably take about 45 to 60 minutes

If you need any more info just send me a mail

I grew up in Aylesbury ( on Bedgrove) and it seemed alright to me. There's local shops (with obligatory youths) but also a big park and quite a lot of green space.
There are some nice surrounding villages as well and places like Tring, Weston Turville, HAlton, Bierton, Aston Clinton, Great MIssenden are pretty nice if you want to live somewhere quieter.
In terms of schools, there are some vg primary schools in Aylsebury. Because Bucks has the 11+ there are secondary grammar or comp schools which could be a consideration.
Areas in Ayles that i know from where my friends grew up (it's over 10 years but i don't think it's changed that much- i still go back to see my family) Turnfurlong, Elm Farm Estate, Broughton were all nice areas. I think you can get a rough idea from the house prices as to where people want to live.
Good luck with the relocation
