Default New GSX-8S announced

This has just been announced Down Under: https://www.suzukimotorcycles.com.au/range/road/gsx-8s/

It's a 776cc 270-degree parallel twin with 81bhp and 58ft-lb torque. The styling is very KTM Duke.

The same 776cc engine is used in the new parallel-twin V-Strom, which makes it seem likely that there won't be a direct 650cc replacement for the SV / DL.

It may well prove to be a great bike but the MT-07, the new Honda Hornet and this all look similar. The SV's engine made it stand out.

Announced here too: https://bikes.suzuki.co.uk/bikes/street/gsx-8s/

I don't like it. It was probably launched at EICMA earlier today. The back end looks almost as bad as the Katana and the equally points-to-the-sky back end of the Tiger Sport 660.

The new V-Strom 800DE was presumably launched at the same show today. It looks hideous, is 25kg heavier than the new XL750, has less power than the same, has a sky-high seat at 855mm I'll never be able to get on to and has even worse paint options! Both are on the Suzuki UK website already.

What are the designers smoking?

Glad I'm not the only one Trev. Everyone is saying how much they love the styling of it.

I'm struggling to find anything I like about it. Maybe it'll grow on me?

The blue frame, wheels and bodywork just looks like someone has gone mad with rattle cans. The angle of the tank wings clash with the headlight cowl.

Low bhp for the size and a 14 litre fuel tank

Agree with Sir Trev and Darren. It ain't pretty and the blue is hideous.

Well at least it hasn't got one of those mudguard hung off the back of the swing-arm arrangements! (I've yet to see one of those that looks half-decent on any bike IMHO!)

It's not floating my boat tbh (like most other new modern bikes). I'm stuck at the 'well it could have been worse' stage of reaction, pretty neutral. Thankfully, I'm not in the market for a new bike, nor known for my good taste!

I'm (procrastinating about) fixing up an old Yamaha FZ600 to get myself fully back on the road.

It does nothing for me either. It might be alright for those that just want to go out for a Sunday morning blast and never ride in the rain. I'm looking for a bike that can cover various roles, commuting, road trips etc and it fails on that due to it's impractical design.
Modern regs mean that placement of the number plate is restricted but sticking it on a long pole or dangling it off the swingarm looks horrible. Just extend the rear bodywork for Pete's sake, that would give a bigger pillion seat more space to store a lock etc. Less crap would be chucked over the rider too.

I'll get a proper look at one on Thursday at the NEC.

Another one here who thinks it (and it's brethren from other manu's) looks pig ugly. WTF is this trend for giving half a pillion seat at a ridiculous height? Looks like the forgot to finish drawing the back end? Have fag packets got smaller? Maybe they ran out of space on the back of the packet when they were drawing it down the pub after a good lash up.

It will need a fender extenda too or the engine will get covered in crud. They all do though dont they?
