Yo all you engineer types! Anyone got a small/medium sized metal lathe in good condition they want to sell?

Re: Lathe?
I'm half thinking of selling my Unimat SL and getting something bigger... But it's a really titchy lathe, almost a scale model. Also doubles as a really titchy milling machine But I've not decided yet if this is a smart thing to do.
I didn't get those pics btw

Re: Lathe?
Don't have one, but I was told that its easy peasy to get a 3 phase converted to single phase, and you can get 3 phase lathes cheap from factory closures.

Re: Lathe?
When you say small to medium can you be a bit more specific, how much are you looking to pay for one and do you have the means to pick one up? I have a friend who deals in such things and can ask him if he has anything or if he can find you something. Also what kind of chucks and centres etc will you need to go with it? I presume you will need tool posts, tools and accessories to go with it? What is it you are looking to do with it?

Lookng for about 6" centre height, 20" between centres, metric/imperial screw cutting. Will need 3 jaw and 4 jaw chucks, face plate, live centres, preferably 4 way indexed toolpost, and as you say tools and accesories. Can pick up, no problem. I'm restoring an old Brit' machine at present but build specials as a hobby so, having just turned 40, I promised myself a lathe. Will probably look for a milling machine too, so keep your eyes peeled.... Have been looking at Warco and Chester stuff. Happy to pay market value for the right machine. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks matey! Rich |

Re: Lathe?
The chester stuff looks decent... Their smaller stuff is all just rebrands, but it's the same rebrands Clarke and Sieg sell for 10% more, could be that's where my bonus goes this year.
