50,000 miles then I buggered the gear box [we think selector fork bent].
Easier to replace engine [and cheaper too] so now on engine no 2 which is only 10,000 miles behind the other engine. Now about to clock 60,000 miles on it. |

My pointy has done about 20,000 miles in a year and a half. I keep it regularly serviced, every 4000 miles or so and to date has never let me down. (runs off to find something wooden to touch)
I was tempted to change it, in order to retain some value but figgered a new bike would depreciate the same (1000 miles per month), so I think I'll keep it as long as I can. |

In my case, I do double the milage (2k/month). I fully intend on keeping the SV until she dies a horrible death, under the principal that selling a (for example) 5 year old 650cc "budget sports bike" with 120k on the clock, wouldn't fetch much money. I also don't want to part-ex every year & suffer depreciation on a lot of new bikes. If I wanted to go down that route, I'd have to have some pretty regular, and serious talks with my bank manager! |
