The end is nigh?
New, none V twin, V-Strom with a (maybe 700cc) parallel twin.

Re: The end is nigh?
Probably is the end of the v-twin as far as Suzuki is concerned. Still, 23+ years out of the same basic engine architecture is very good going, the SV / DL line must have been highly profitable for the company.

Re: The end is nigh?
Be a shame if we lose the v twin. It's such a lovely configuration and it has a character that can't quite be matched by a parallel twin. I speak as someone who grew up on parallel twins.

Quote:
Assuming this is it, then Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda (with forthcoming Hornet) will all have 700/750cc twins. Leaving Kawasaki to keep their current 650 or stretch it out, although they seem to be aiming at the 400cc market currently with a rumoured Z400RS and a ZX4R coming.

Re: The end is nigh?
Don't like the headlight on the current Strom so it will be interesting to see how the new one turns out. They're competing against the Tiger Sport 850 which is very popular, so they need to make it look good as well as price it right in a segment that's growing. Smaller bikes are more frugal and a 700 twin will be better than the frankly poor consumption of the 900cc Trumpet triples.
I've thought about the CB500X as a next bike but would prefer a few more ponies. The new 700 twin might tick all the boxes. We'll see.

If the production naked really has USD forks and radial calipers, it'll be an upgrade ....
