pushbike sizes
i have been given a kona four supreme 16" bike for a boy who is 9-10 years old but i'm told that its a girls bike?
i dont think so. so can some of you cyclists shed some light. i think the big brother is talking shizz coz he wants his mum to spend a gran on a new bike for the younger brother when she dont have the money. the older brother is into downhill mountain biking. edit: seat height at lowest is 30" and its got 26" wheels. Re: pushbike sizes
16" frame? That would be too big, that's more small adult size, you would be looking at more like a 12-13" frame. If you mean 16" wheels (kids bikes are often sized by the wheels not the frame) then it'll be too small. I had a quick google and wasn't sure if I had found the right bike. Looks pretty serious if it is.

Re: pushbike sizes
If it looks like this its a serious bike
https://konaworld.com/archive/2017/supreme_operator.cfm Over 5Ks worth and far to big for a 10 yr old. Just as JR said. The seat tube across all sizes is the same, the reach varies though |

Re: pushbike sizes
A bike I would love, push bikes = n+1, but could never justify it at my age. From what I can gather they were well built for reliability. If there is no play in the linkages and the wheel, bottom bracket, headset bearing are all functional and work well plus the brakes are good it would be a great bike to own, (if its a serious mountain bike he wants)
From the photo its not possible to determine the reach to the handle bars but a shorter head stem could be fitted whilst he grows. Sorry could not id a mahooziv bike |

Re: pushbike sizes
there is no play in any of the bearings that i can tell. gears a re a bit bashed up and needing set up with new cables.
it would make an ideal ebike conversion. |

Re: pushbike sizes
Too good for an e bike. The gears could well do with upgrading but that can be achieved without breaking the bank. Just dont try and use the latest offering but a previous model. Be careful on Ebay though, a lot on offer knocked off copies. After saying that I upgraded one of my bikes using all cheap stuff as I was upgrading from 6 speed to 9 and had to cold set the rear triangle and re-dish the wheel which I built in 82. So was unsure whether it would all work. It did pleased to say. SupAdams knowledge would be greater than mine. I am just a keen cyclist that does things on the cheap. After saying all that a conversion would work, but which one?

Re: pushbike sizes
It's not a girl's bike, and if he can ride that frame size then why not, he's not going to grow shorter. That or keep it as the next bike but it's a good axe
