Default rear shock absorber

hy there!
I have a question: what would be the reasons of a broken rear shock absorber..
I ride a sv650, which has a R1 2001 rear shock absorber and a Vfr single-sided swingarm. After only one month after I bought the motorcycle, the axle of the rear shock absorber has broken.I'm lucky I still live!
Is there any chance that the R1 rear shock absorber and the Vfr single-sided swingarm not fitting with the Sv(an incorrect angle,or higher forces than originaly).
Or was the rear shock absorber already broken(taken from a crashed R1).
I'm afraid not to put a new rear shock absorber, and happen the same.
What should I do?
