Owning a discontinued bike

Looks like the dorsoduro 750 is no longer for sale in the UK. Still available elsewhere though I think. Typical for me to buy one in the last year of production

So what would you do in this situation? Sell up quick before prices start to drop? Or will they command a slight premium now that you can't get them new? (without importing)



To be honest, as much as I love the bike, how it rides, feels and looks, the fuel range is becoming a bit of a pain for me, so I don't think I would have kept it for a long time anyway

i wouldn't worry about it. So long as you can still get spares & parts then there isn't an issue.

so 100 and your pushing... not too drastic just means more stops. bit of a burmer up north though. just a quick calc and it looks like your getting around 40mpg add in the silly 12ltr tank

if it were me and its not i would be looking for something else. something like that would be ok for doing stupid low miles, say 2k a year and just blatting about but after that it would just be a PITA.

i think the problem you will have is dealers will be discounting remaining stock till they are gone.

its a stunning looking bike and i bet goes like stick and handles well too but that kind of tank range would do my nut in. its bad enough i have to stop for petrol every 100-120 miles when out with Dave. having said that i suppose its forcing you to take a break every 80 miles.

When I was looking for a bike recently I expected to buy a Honda NC750 for its 80+MPG but when I had a closer look at it I didn't like the finish. Riding gently people are getting up to 90MPG which is amazing. If I were you I would put it up for sale tout-suite for a high-ish price and see how it goes. You can always reduce the price if you get no nibbles.

I test rode a NC750 and it was horrible. I cut the test ride short as it was gutless and didn't handle.

Darren you owned a Suzuki RGV250 you can't get any more discontinued than that.

The tiny fuel tank is the one thing that put me off the Aprilia, its one of the best looking bikes out there and looks a hoot...

Yeah but an RGV isn't worth a lot to begin with and is going to hold its value.

I've never had it up to 100 miles. I think I saw 43mpg on the average display the other day. As you know though, I don't ride for economy. I should really go out with a jerry can and find out its true limit. It is an awesome bike. It really is so close to being perfect

I guess I'll see how I feel at the end of the season and think about what I could replace it with
