Be interesting to see what has been done to get it through Euro 5 regs. I suspect the ride by wire throttle has opened up a few options.

Sounds like an excuse to get us all talking John, and it worked
That looks epic! Much lower seat height than my 800RE but oddly not much lighter. Also a shame it does not get more modern forks and radial brakes, but then I'm hoping this will be a lot cheaper and Suzuki probably wants to keep the premium parts for the more "premium" models. But I bet this outsells the Stroms and 8T/TT models!! Specs are on the Suzuki UK website. https://bikes.suzuki.co.uk/bikes/sport/sv-7gx/

Just so relieved that the trusty SV is going to live on. It's become something of a classic bike really.

I get the impression that those two don't really understand the appeal of the SV.

The MotoBob video about it was also a bit dismissive. Yes it's an older platform, yes it has a lower spec, but as we all know, it's still a great bike. When Suzuki announced it was going, there were a load of vids on YT lamenting the fact. When I was bike shopping last year I went out on one as a test ride - it was great but slightly cramped but the higher/further back bars and lower pegs of the GX variant may fit me better. We'll see, as I'd be happy to downsize a bit to one in another year or two.

I was just reading the Bennets Bikesocial tech review on the SV7-GX and saw this.
My curvy S has a 17 litre tank. I didn't realise that the later versions were down to 14.5 litres.

thumbnail_IMG_0848.jpg thumbnail_IMG_0849.jpgNew SV7. I just wish they had put a flatter seat on it. Old riders, whatever they think, have troubles getting their legover. Rear part of seat is just too high for easy mounting. Pointless saying that passenger likes to see on the high perch as people hardly never carry passengers. I have a 2022 Gen 3, ( Gladius really isn't it), and cut the seat in half. Under the front foam, near tank, I have added an extra layer of foam on the uprise nearest tank. Then also added small brackets to bolt seat down on the tapped M8 uprise frame parts. Then used the original seat cover fitted back and stapled on this front seat. Rear seat base had the hooked brackets bent to keep seat from moving sideways and still held by the original lock. then a foam floormat/kneeling mat about 15mm thick was cut to fit and covered with a marine vinyl. Tons easier to get on with arthritic hip. Also modified Shad 3P brackets from a Honda to fit on the SV. Custom made 5mm plate at rear where mudguard is bolted, as Shad brackets are. Bars to the rear footrest brackets with a spacer fitted to front mount. Whole set-up is about 75mm further forward for better balance and NO relocation of rear indicators. |

Being vertically challenged i mount my bike like you would a horse, foot on peg then swing leg over. This is also why i park my bike in first gear.

Must admit I never have picked up the courage to risk bump starting the SV on my own, used to on the Cub and T21 that I inherited off my Father but the high rear seat on the SV puts me off
