I miss the odd things, like calming my dad down when he got started on Brexit or migrants. Or any number of things

This got postponed due to it being a bit windy to be fiddling with green houses. Got started this morning, just packed up. Supposed to be a 3 hour job, 6 hours later..... and 3 million tiny 7mm nuts and bolts later!

Round 2 tomorrow - FML! Good job I love Mrs Luckypants.

Went to our local council recycling centre today. had the car boot full of heavy stuff like old brake discs etc, because there was some small stuff like calipers and ball joints I had put them all in small plastic rubble bag, about the size of a shopping bag. As usual two 'attendants' leaning on the side of the skip, who never lifted a finger to help. As I threw in the bag of metal in with a loud clang one bloke said ' can't put the plastic bag in mate', I pointer to a pile of stackable plastic chairs with the thin tube metal legs in the skip and a mostly plastic kids bike and said 'what are those doing in there' then. He said OK mate, we'll ignore the bag just this once then. Talk about jobsworth.

We have to get a resident's permit to take anything not classed as "general household waste" to our tip. Garden waste is fine but anything remotely DIY or fencing etc. means you pay per small bag unless you get a permit. Can have one visit per week and of course allowed volumes are still small. I can see some of the stuff we don't want to move to the new house going into the regular wheelie bin disguised in thick black bags...

A lot of stuff gets 'fly tipped' and costs the council tax payer a fortune to clean up simply because the local council tips will not accept it....

I was thinking the same thing after reading Sir Trevs post. The restrictions are really counter productive and increase illegal dumping.

Not helped by the "gate guard" at the tip today not knowing what my permit meant! I'm sure they take it in turns to be at the entrance to screen incoming vehicles and fleece the unsuspecting but he baffling said "that's DIY waste, I'll have to charge you for that". When I pointed out the permit I had shown him 30 seconds ago said 2x50l bags of DIY waste was free with such permits he said "news to me" but thankfully let me in.

No wonder some people just dump stuff anywhere.
