Almost Crashed
So, I almost had my first off yesterday My buddy and I went for a ride out to the beach and on the way there were some really great twisties. We came up on one particular corner that was fairly sharp, so I slowed down to about 35mph. About half-way through the corner I hear a loud scraping noise and the bike starts to shake. I stood it up as soon as I could, but the front end was already shaking back and forth. I seriously thought I was gonna go into a tank slapper and be thrown off, but fortunately the bike stabilized itself after a couple seconds and I was able to stop. Even though my buddy who was behind me said I was leaned over pretty far, it didn't feel like it. I mean, I felt like I've leaned over farther than that before without any problems. After we stopped we took a look at what happened; not only had the left peg scraped, but my kickstand scraped as well. The rest of the trip was great, but that one moment scared the crap out of me! Looks like I might be getting new rear sets in the near future Has anyone else had this happen to them on their
SV? Anyone ever had their kickstand scrape as well? |

Re: Almost Crashed
My pegs/knees have an aversion to tarmac, I got so much air between em at the mo that i could probably fit a small country in the gap!!!!

Re: Almost Crashed
Mine touches down all the time, but that's because my left side pipe stops it coming up all the way, it touches down before the pegs.
Well done that man! |

Re: Almost Crashed
Yep, I got this a couple of times on the track. Once was a lot quicker than the other and really freaked me out a lot. I was going to buy rearsets to shift the pegs higher, but decided not to spend more money on the SV as I was considering buying a new bike (which I did in the end and it hasn't been a problem since!)

Re: Almost Crashed
Scraped the pegs plenty on track (before I got rearsets) but never had the stand scrape.
Is the stand folding up fully? Even if you got rearsets the stand would still scrape. |
