oooh yes, with a doorstop of crusty bread for dipping.

The paella & patatas bravas from the Macc Xmas market were superb, as always. Slept like a log with a belly full of delicious carbs.

Philomena Cunk (aka Diane Morgan). I love her irreverant "documentaries" and Cunk on Life last night was no exception.

Been watching quite a bit of youtube on the telly, broadcast progs are getting dire (IMO).
Watched some Stephen Fry talks, he came up with a line which I liked (not sure if it was his original or quoted from someone else)

"Laughter is what fills the space between the head and the heart".

Musk tweeting that 'The Reform Party needs a new leader. Farage doesn't have what it takes.'

When you spend your time kissing @rse with people like Musk or Trump, there's a big risk that you'll get sh@t on

Musk is proposing that one Stephen Yaxley-Lennon would be a better party leader. No surprise there then from the idiot who is proposing the neo-nazi AfG as the saviours of Germany.

I must admit that I'm completely at a loss to guess how this debacle is going to play out. You really couldn't make it up.

I'm not dreaming it all, am I ?

It does however show just what a total shower the UK media has turned into. Why doesn't someone in the media (e.g. Peston et al) have the cahunas to call Musk's witterings out for what they are. Instead they turn it round onto Starmer and crew to contest it and justify what they are doing as if Musk has a valid point.
"Ooooh, someone has said you are a bunch of grooming sympathisers, what have you got to say about that then?"

My best guess is that Trump and Musk will have a big falling out at some point, could be entertaining (or catastrophic).

Ian Hislop (editor of Private Eye) had a few words about Musk on LBC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diHcpZvBjT0

Meanwhile, Musk held an interview with Alice Weidel (spokeswoman for AfD) on X. Amongst other things that were mentioned was that Hitler was a communist, socialist guy. Is it possible to gaslight an entire planet? I notice that Mr "Free Speech" doesn't interview anyone from the left. Another interesting point was that Musk's father said that his son's teachers considered him retarded. Although if you look at Musk's father's background I wouldn't put him on the reliable witness heap.

A tale of two presidents: Biden expressed sympathy and support for victims of California fires, Trump blamed it on Governor Newsom (a Democrat, who he named "Newscum" in his usual adult fashion) saying it was because the state protected little fish instead of pumping water to LA, baffling many people.

LAFD keeps 3 main storage reservoirs for "normal" fires, these were fully emptied because of abnormal conditions.
It is true that LA Mayor (Karen Bass) did cut LAFD funding.

The Santa Ana (Devil) winds blow from the high desert and as they drop to sea level their temperature rises and their humidity plummets. They usually occur before Xmas and are in the 50-60 mph range but these were stronger apparently. LA rainy season starts in October and runs through March with a typical amount being 9-11 inches, this year they had a wet start and then a series of hot spells causing the scrub to grow like crazy and then dry out - with virtually no rain in the last month or so, perfect fire conditions. When I lived there we monitored humidity for our imagestters and platesetters (printing machines) and I recorded a value of 9% rH when SA winds were blowing- my sinuses would bleed at this level.

The ignition source hasn't been pinpointed yet but there are many overhead powerlines running over the mountains into LA which have previously fallen and started fires. Pacific Gas and Electric were fined heavily for the last fires for this reason.
