There are 2 right beside my house. If you sleep with the window open on a windy summer night, you do hear them.
They take out a few birds with the blades! Saw a seagull at the bottom of one last week. Happens quite often apparently |

The bird problem is a concern, I did an online environmental course a few years ago and one of the topics covered was how best to limit the bird casualties. It covered several topics including flight paths and the height that the normal height that they fly at. I have seen different designs of wind turbines but none on a commercial scale
