Default Publishing a book...

My wife has written a novel.

Has anyone published a book online, ie via Amazon or any other electronic media?

How does it work, how do you publicise it, how do you make money?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

I've got two on amazon kindle. It's extremely easy. There's a PDF on the amazon website which is very straight forward. To get royalties paid direct to your bank you need the IBAN and BIC numbers which your bank can give you. Read the PDF. Find the publishing link at the bottom of the amazon web page.

Use your own networking to raise awareness, twitter, FB etc. you can select either 35 or 70 percent royalties. Selecting 70 means that the price per unit has to be set higher, this might mean that your book is less attractive as an option. Go for 35 and people are happy to risk a quid or whatever. My book is linked in my signature line.

Thanks for the advice.

Twitter and Facebook...wouldn't even know where to start! Don't do either.

Sorry for the slight hijack, but Stingo, do you get paid anything if I borrow the book?

Kindle Purchase Price: £1.02
Prime Members: £0.00 (borrow for free from your Kindle device)

As I have prime?

Get yourself an ISBN number (one per format - pdf etc), provide metadata (the more the merrier unless it's a romantic novel) and provide a cover picture. That information helps sales.

TBH not sure, I assume that I'll receive nothing for the borrowing thing, it's part of the marketing thing/strategy I think.
