Recommend me a trackday tyre
OK here's the deal. I bought an insurance writeoff curvy that I'm converting to a trackday bike. Hagon shock, KTech fork springs and heavier oil, race plastics but otherwise essentially stock. I'm a former racer, not too bad in my day but an old fart now. The bike will be used 2-3 times a year and I don't have or want tyre warmers. I'll run in intermediates, maybe fast on a good day
What tyres would people recommend? I need track spec but road legal, that can be warmed up in 1-2 laps of track so I don't need warmers, and which aren't a disaster area in cooler or damp conditions. Bit of a tall order perhaps but I'd like to hear your views and personal experiences. Thanks! |

Re: Recommend me a trackday tyre
M7RR'S are a decent tyre although not run them on an SV admittedly. I use warmers on track.
Aside from the obvious benefits of greater confidence and taking a lot less time to get fully up to temp, if you're using for road as well as in general, the less heat cycles the better. Think my first outings on track with my pointy I had Avon storm 2 ultras and they were plenty good enough. Think next year I may go for some super corsa's Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Re: Recommend me a trackday tyre
Avons, think i paid £200 fitted, Ill check when i go out to the man cave. Fully understand the heat cycle argument but how many times have you been held up for ages in the holding area or called in after the first lap as someone has binned it and your left waiting for ages. Ive got fed up with this and bined the geny and tire warmers, okay i dont go mental on the first lap but ive never thought that i should go back to warmers, all in the head !!!
