Test rode one of those very red bikes today. The morning looked like another storm, high winds and lashing rain. By the time I was out on the test ride the roads were bone dry, the wind had stopped and the sun was out. Not sure if the warm dry conditions coloured my view of the test ride, but it was definitely a fun bike.

This just returned from Nitron:

Although at the same time, there's a minor gripe in that it wasn't particularly cheap. With a new spring fit (they recommended I use 475lb rate) the rebuild came to £277 -so that added to the £300 I paid for it used. When I bought it, it had apparently already been freshly serviced by a well-known independent. Though as it turned out there was a loose bleed screw on the reservoir so it started leaking oil, which is what prompted me to send it off to Nitron to get put right.

Anyhow that's done and I can start putting things back together.

Nitron do a brilliant job. Not cheap, but worth it for the quality and service.

They also often have good history records of shocks they've sold. I was able to take my VFR one in and get a full history of the shim stack adjustments, valving changes, spring rate advice and what sort of rider and riding it was originally specced for. It's a good ride out to drop off and collect with some great roads around Oxfordshire on a sunny day.

I didn't ask for the history, but it became apparent in conversation that they had details on this shock.

And agreed - I think it was money well spent sending it directly to Nitron.

Adam - did you fit the VFR shock? Worth it? If you have pictures would appreciate them via DM on here. I'd really like to sort my bike out and use it this year....

I have a Nitron R1 on my NC700. Excellent products if a little pricey, but you soon forget the cost

I'm actually selling the shock as I had to let the bike go a few months back. I did fit remove and refit and then remove the shock again. It's the one with the remote compression canister and the remote preload, so a lot of bits to thread through, and included jacking up and lowering the swingarm repeatedly to weave all the parts through in different stages. It was quite a process. Worth it though as the Nitron shock and uprated Ktech front springs made it feel like such a sharp bike. Still plush but very accurate at the same time.

New Bike day has arrived, and i'm a very happy boy indeed.

Also very fortunate the weather is decent enough to ride this weekend too, and put some miles on it.
