Default Rear brake caliper

Hello all,

I have a 99 curvy sv. I needed a replacement rear caliper so I got one from the breakers. It was a caliper off a new shap 2 year old sv. The suzuki dealer i called said that there was no difference between the rear caliper on a curvy or a new shape.

The caliper that arrived is different totally. It is a single pot Nissin caliper. The breaker claims it is off an SV.

Can any of you provide information about changes in caliper away from the original tokico type? I believe this caliper is more likely a front caliper (single sided 1 pot). Do new SV use nissin on the front ?

Any help gratefully received before I insert this caliper up the a..E of a surly breaker :-0

new gen sv has totally different rear caliper.

I would guess all suzuki calipers that hang down on bracket from 90's to present
there is actually nice black hollow caliper hanger from katana or bandit that works.it is about 3mm longer and slight bevel on pads is needed.it looks bling
just found info,it is 89 katana 600 bracket.

Did the refurb thing. Unfortunatly the reason I had to is that the bleed nipple had sheared. When i drilled and tapped I nicked the seat so when ever you brake you also squirt brake fluid. Not the best plan!

So was the dealer (mickey oates glasgow) spinning rubbish?

Yep, dealer talking rubbish. Mine is a Busa caliper, it's exactly the same as the SV one (though the pistons looked a bit different) but obviously far cooler as it's off a Busa. That makes it officially a Mod.

Morning all.

I believe Derbybiker has a similar caliper fitted to the rear of his Curvy. It's definitely mounted above the swinging arm. You could PM him & find out exactly what it is that he has.

Cheers.

Pete you hit the nail right on the head with the drawing. Instead of inserting the caliper up the breaker it is the supposed expert dealer that sold me a pup and said the calipers were the same.

Should of asked you bunch first. Thank you for all your comments.

Any one looking for a K3 caliper!
