Nice TLR in the background of the cleaning video, spare bike? My bike gets a bucket of water tipped over it twice a year *the shame*

***New Video***

I snap the bolt in half as I try to film a rear brake caliper check on my SV650, this is the funny video of it going wrong. I look forward to your laughs and comments!

Um. I must admit I was cringing when you had a great big torque wrench to do such a low level bolt.
£35 gets you a cleark Pro 238 from machine mart.
30 -360 nm.

Yeah, the smaller one in the garage only went to 25 and I needed 26, I am getting older in a couple of days time and I have high hopes of a new torque wrench then

Mechanical ones are only sweet in the mid range.
I'd be pushed to feel the click on 30 nm on a hulk like that.
But then time for the 3/8 one.
Not that I'd use it on brakes as I'm used to how much you can stress bolts because of my job.
We even use a screw driver type for critical bolts.
Mostly it's bolt stretch nowadays (angle wrench).
Still your wiser now and nothing beats experience.

I broke the same bolt just nipping it up before torquing, and started a thread about it - some years ago now. Search on "rear caliper bolts" or my user name. Some interesting info came out. I'd come across the idea that caliper bolts shouldn't be reused. Up to the individual, but I certainly look at them very closely before reusing now. The one I broke was certainly very stretched. The one you broke looked OK though.
