Front end chatter on heavy braking - wtf?
On the way in I had cause to stop reasonably hard for a light (the yellow light was broken so read came on suddenly). I did what I thought I should, start braking early but lightly and then feed the front more power as grip increases etc... then,
...this weird chattering noise starts coming from the front. ClakaClakaClakaClaka... Bike seemed stable. Only lasted for a second or two and continued to ride and brake fine for the rest of the journey. I looked at the brakes and they seem normal and the forks also seem normal. What was that then? |

Re: Front end chatter on heavy braking - wtf?
with all the rain recently could have just been a bit of rust on the discs if its fine now. Even a bit of crap from the road could have caused that. If it persists check the bearings on the front wheel

Re: Front end chatter on heavy braking - wtf?
I ask Ichiwotsit my Nš1 HRC mechanic he be suggesting:
Tyre pressures. Dirt on disc or brake pad surfaces. Headstock bearings. Fork oil. I be hope this of very good be helping. |

Re: Front end chatter on heavy braking - wtf?
If it was really hard braking, it could be the forks bottoming out.

Re: Front end chatter on heavy braking - wtf?
I used to get that on the Daytona when I changed to Ferrodo Platinum Pads. I changed um for EBC's and it's been perfect since.

Re: Front end chatter on heavy braking - wtf?
I have experienced the same thing, didn't feel like forks though, sounded more like it was coming from gearbox or something?
I'm not saying it was but thats where it seemed to be coming from. That was under heavy braking when a pheasant popped out the hedge! |
