ZXR400 Vs SV650S pointy

A buddy of mine has a ZXR400 and In my opinion it is a bag of **** ( rhymes with Kit )
But every time we are out he Claims that he can knock the dust off the SV??
but when proving time comes there is always smething wrong like hes on new tires or ( make up any excuse and insert here ) . . . .

so here is a poll to anyone that knows about this sort of thing.
Who would win in a drag race, or on track based on decent riding ability

all else being equal -the zxr wins smaller /lighter and prob faster than the sv and it handles btr BUT ,,,,a sorted sv (suspension) wouldnt b far behind .on a track theres no contest,but on the road ,,,,hmmmm

Having had a Kwakka 400 and a SVs... put over the same roads, same conditions... I'd win with the 400 against myself on the 650.

Smaller, lighter and just begging to be thrown at corners as hard as a jackhammer, I could flick that little baby with a thought. with the SV I had to use a bit of a push on the ol' bars as well.

However, it sounds perhaps that your mate knows his bike is capable of 'winning', but his own skills are lacking.

i voted for the zxr because its manic! fast and handles well! BUT? racing through the box up to 16000rpm is just too manic for me, on tight twistys the sv wouldnt be far off and if you ask me would be a better ride.

i raced one in a drag race, i was told by him there was no chance he could have kept up. No idea about corners though.

okay thst seems to answer my question then, as always i am safe in the knowledge that this particular zxr 400 is 11 years old and has been crashed and thrown down the road more times than he is prepared to admit and by over 8 owners.
has pieces hanging off, and more bodge jobs done on it than Mcguiver ever did.
it may sound like im bitter but believe me im really not lol,
i know against this particular zxr400 it would be know contest in my favour but against a newer better kept one.. . . it would be fun
oh and he paid £1200 for it lol, you wouldnt of given £900, believe me lol,

In a straight line, the SV should take it really... The ZXR's lighter but also less powerful- and the claimed power was pretty optimistic when it was new, now it's probably half shagged like all the other ones. And the peak's narrower too, which means it spends more time not actually punching its hardest.

Corners? Could go either way, a ZXR in good shape should outclass the SV but nobody ever services the suspension on their bikes so it'll probably be a wreck. The number of people who're convinced that their 400cc whatever is a corner-carving god, when the suspension's completely knackered and it's actually a total mess, is just unbelievable- psychology in action.

Stick my errrrr substantual frame on the poor wee 400 IL4 designed for someone about 5'2 and you be lucky to get a 0 to 60 in an hour :P

SV wins by default. LOL

again this all really boils down to the rider and i know lylej likes his speed.
