Default clutch drag - how much it to much

ok so i have the bike jacked up so the rear wheel can spin, and today put on a new sprocket, and decided to clean the worm drive.

so after putting the worm drive back on and decided to test the clutch, so i put the bike in first so the wheel wont spin then pull in the clutch and the wheel will turn but takes a lot off effort to turn the wheel (by hand) im sure that thats not right, so then i put the bike in second and it takes less force to turn with the clutch in.

so basilica i want to know if the wheel should free wheel when the clutch is pulled in when in gear (as it does when in neutral) or should there be resistance

PS the worm drive (clutch realise mechanism) works fine

?

thanks

sometimes their might be a bit of resistance if the engine oil temp is cold....but not a TOO much... (if bike is on both wheels and clutch pulled in and a first gear is selected the bike should not be pulling forward)

you might have maladjusted the clutch worm drive by accident on replacing it. just a thought.

Is the oil cold or hot? Cold oil can cause resistance which will disappear when warm. I couldn't bump start my SV on a cold day as the rear would just lock, but otherwise my clutch seemed fine.
