Default swinging arm suspension linkage bearings

Are there any other options apart from sourcing OEs from a dealer?

Might need a complete set and at ?17 a pop .....plus other bits I might decide to change kind of makes it err a bit expensive.

A case for Spannerack?

Morning all, & the P@@S taker!

Over the years I have tried obtaining linkage bearings from alternative sources without much success.
A few are available, but most aren't it would seem. As SVrash has pointed out, you need to replace the spacers too, & these are definitely O/E only.

It's bite the bullet, & cough I'm afraid.

It's well worth stripping & greasing the linkage at regular intervals, using a high quality grease. My mates 900 Divvy has just required new linkage bearings, after over 100k of all weather dispatching. The linkage had been cleaned & greased every 16k. Whereas I have had to replace bearings on other Divvys at less than 20k where they hadn't been greased at all.

A point worth mentioning is that many bearing factors grossly over inflate the list prices of bearings, so they can look good when offering you a 50% discount, & still cop a fair few bob. I was perusing Midland bearings website a few months back, & saw standard ballraces, such as found in SV wheels, being listed at £28+VAT each! £8 or £9 is more like it.

Cheers.

Just had the frame, sub-frame and swingarm powder coated, had to replace all 8 bearings! Gutted. Inquired as to how much a new swing arm bolt would be...
are you sitting down?

£70!!

Plus suzuki wanted around £150 for both the locknut removal tools, what a joke!
Oh well it's done now, will try and get some pics up soon.

Yup, unfortunately when it gets bead/sand blasted before coating the bearings get full of grit and so are ruined. Another reason why you need to remove the bearings beforehand is when it gets baked in the oven, any grease left over from the bearings runs out and down your nice new paintwork and ruins it completely!

I've just spent nigh on a hundred quid for new bearings/spacers etc. Alas, most bearing suppliers can't seem to supply the linkage bearings, only the swingarm ones are a standard fitment.
I've just drilled and fitted a grease nipple to the swingarm hub so thats one job that will be much easier in future, well worth it I would say. I suppose I should have done the same with the linkage bearings but the new ones have integral seals so should last much better than the originals anyway.
