Default Muff – is it dangerous?

My hands get a bit chilly this time of year (have Oxford heated grips, but they are plops) … anyhoo, I have seen people with bar muffs on … the thought of having my hand deep in a warm muff seamed a pleasurable thought at the time (with my cold mitts), but it struck me that this might be potentially dangerous in an off??? Anyone heard of someone getting their had trapped in a muff in an off?

Wasn't it Stu that fitted V-Strom muffs?

You have to be careful about stearing lock clearance. I think I remember Stu's interfeering with one of the levers when at full lock.

It wouldn't work on mine, as I have an oil bottle near the clutch lever, so don't have the space for muffs.

I had muffs on my SV for a little while and I found it would cause the brake and clutch to be engaged with out my interaction. Though I do have V-Storm hand guards on mine with no problem at all, loads of clearance and no fouling at all. As the leavers a protected by the hand guards now I was thinking of trying the muffs again and seeing what my lock is like, but I imagine it should work well.
When putting the guards on I did have to shorten the bolt that came with the kit.

As you get older you need to keep the ciculation going, and I find a bit of muff works wonders for that.

I found that they folded back on some bikes interfereing with the brake and clutch lever. This weekend there will be some faffing about with coat hangers and gaffa tape and a knife to try and get them fitted properly.
