Default Engine popping question

I know the noobie asking another dumb question but you guys all seem great and dont mind Am not sure if this is "normal" or not, being i have only 400 miles on the bike. When its warm or cold the sympton occurs. Ill be sitting still somewhere (never while riding) and give it alittle rev. Little meaning if it would have revved it would go upto maybe 3-4,000. 30% of the time right when i give it the rev it wont rev but will pop. Sounds like a backfire but not as loud as a car per say when they do. Is it the break in period or should i really have this taken in and checked out? I dont ride the bike hard, i have gave it about 3/4 throttle in second and third from 3k-7k, never been over 8k yet. I think am more of a worry wart then anything. This thing is precious to me lol

Morning all.

It sounds like a minor spit back through the throttle bodies, most petrol engines do this sometimes. It's more common on engines with fewer cylinders like a V twin, as the cylinder that's firing effectively has to do more work, as there is comparatively more resistance from the other cylinder. As compared to a 4 cylinder engine where the firing cylinder is assisted by other cylinders that are on the down stroke, (it's all torque you know).

As, like you said it's the running in period I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Most engines do not perform their best until they're fully run in.
It would be worth mentioning it at the 600 mile service, just in case there is a slight leak on one of the inlet manifolds, or on one of the vacuum hoses.

Cheers.

Looking at your picture I would say that the non standard can & doubtless other bolt on bits would contribute to it.
Like I said most engines do this at some stage, so providing the mixtures are ok it's nothing to worry about.

Cheers.
