Default New Fuel Protests

There's a lot of buzz around about new fuel protests, organised apparently by this lot, TransAction 2007. There's a statement on their website, and if you want to be involved you can join them as well.

Might well be worth picking up a few extra litres or cans of fuel.

Personally, I'm fully behind them as my monthly fuel bill just getting backwards and forwards to work in the cage has increased by about £60 a month. It's about bloody time the UK stopped bending over and taking it.

My fuel bill is up 10% in about 5-6 weeks. If it carrys on at this rate it'll be £3/litre by October (Not likely - I know; but the maths says so). I might forget to get enough fuel to come in at the end of the week

on a serious note a lot of people take long journeys over christmas; this could really cause a stir. I myself need 380 miles worth to go back home next week. Bugger!

Looking at my receipts back in August I filled up my car for £45. Now it costs me £56.

It'd be cheaper for me to run a Monaro V8 with an LPG conversion than it is to run my diesel Volvo.

Thing is though we just pay it because we need to get about. They really have us over a barrel (of oil). What annoys me is that the government sit there and say "Well the oil companies need to reduce their costs so that we can pass these on to the consumers". No they don't, you need to stop charging your own countrymen the ridiculous amount of tax on each litre. They are out to screw us all over. Grrrrrrr!

I fine with a blockade/strike. Go for it I say.

I still can't quite grasp the double taxation.

VAT is charged on the fuel duty; which is totally illegal internationally. Wasn't Belgium or somewhere recently massivley in the **** with the EU for this?

Its about time, at the begining of november I was paying 96.9p a litre at the end of it according to my receipts I'm paying 104.9p a litre.

For november I have over £450 worth of petrol receipts

ALthough I fear they will all just be arrested under the Terrorism Act, which is what the goverment says they are going to do.

What we need is a colossal campaign of civil disobedience.

Or a General Election, either will do.

Graeme, that is providing that the police dont strike/work to rule to get the payrise that we asked for. In a time when the government are putting extra pressure on those to bring these people in, they offer a rise of 1.9% which is embarrasing if you ask me.
