IAM types?

My experience of VD is a bunch of aggro ****-wit weekend warriors on sportsbikes who ride like ***ts and like to think they are fantastically gifted riders who know more about biking in general than anyone else in the universe.

I agree, the new layout is rubbish.

I posted there for a while, and was always getting into arguments with one BMW GS riding IAM type who thought he was the best and fastest rider in the world. I heard he was leading a ride-out so I tagged along and observed, he really was a crap rider. I blew past when it was doubly safe and went off to enjoy myself, and then slated him the next day.

All his sycophantic little followers were sticking up for him on the forum, and pming me to say "sorry I said that on the forum, but really you're right, he is crap" - that's when I didn't bother posting there again.

So what you mean is there was one IAM wannabe who wanted to be the leader of the pack, and a bunch of people happy to follow that weren't prepared to speak their mind? Ah well, I wandered on there, had a read and felt it wasn't really the place for me....

There are a number of them like that.

You'll find one has his little band of IAM devotees, then you'll find the guy who is easily the fastest at every track day he's ever been to...or so he'll have you think the way he dishes out track riding advice that would have you in the gravel trap if you took it.

Others are the best riders in the world purely because they have the K7 Gixer Thou with Ohlins all round, and only poor people would still ride a K6 - truth be known these guys do 1500 miles a year and couldn't ride a rocking horse, let alone a powerful sports bike.

Every one of these twonks has to have a little band of followers who hang onto their every word - I find it laughable, yet very sad.
