I need to get my brothers suspension preload set up for his weight on what used to be my SV (K5 Naked). I know how to measure it from scratch, but as I'm telling him over the phone and he's a numpty, I'd rather give him less instructions to follow! Does anyone know off hand what the total suspension travel is front and rear? On the main site it has listings for the curvy, but not the pointy.
Ta muchly folks. (By the way, I don't need instructions on how to do it, recommendations for what springs to buy, being told what I need for a gsxr conversion, tips on gardening or owt else!) However, saying that, feel free to spam the crap out of this thread just 'coz it's fun! |

I doubt there will be much difference between curvy and pointy at all. Use the figures for the curvy unless something better turns up. It's something like 100 - 120mm of travel both ends.... (Rear measured between axel nut and some convenient point on the plastics)

120 front, 130 rear for the curvy. I might just leave it til I'm next down there and do it for him. He's more of a mechanical novice even than me...

According to the often overlooked www.sv650.org site:
http://www.sv650.org/SV_service_manu...nformation.pdf (Section 1-10) For a K3+ SV650, the travel is: Front : 130mm Rear: 134mm Jambo

Ooh, didn't find that when I looked. Obviously looking with eyes shut doesn't always work then...
Cheers Dr Jambo Sir! |
