All I have is a little socket set (up to 15mm), nothing else no stands, no spanners and no know-how.
What items, I mean everything, not just tools, to be able to do basic maintanence on my bike, the things I know I should be doing more regularly. Also what things should I be doing more regularly. Where is the best place to get the items too. |

download the manual at the front pages of this site (pdf)
Paddock stands - front & rear or an Abba stand if you can afford one GT85 - excellent for wiping muck off, displacing water and lubrication and it smells ok too! Socket set I have a small cordless screwdriver which i can attach bits to. These can be allen bits, screw bits, torx bits and even small sockets so find it ideal for making jobs easier on bike. Feeler Gauges (for plugs and valve clearances if you're feeling adventurous) A range of grease - Molyb, Copper, red rubber and LM grease is what I use. Set of screwdrivers An oil filter removal tool Large sockets to remove back wheel |

Buy this: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=104098
It'll result in tidier oil filter changes than driving a longscrewdriver through the old filter. ![]() Tools wise, I think Halfords Pro are a good compromise of quality vs cost. |

Just the Haynes manual for now. It's got a section in the back on what tools you need, divided into 3 types - everyday, overhaul and specialist. Perfect!
Of course, then you'll need some new threads - recommend me a socket set, recommend me a torque wrench etc etc. ![]() WARNING - Buying tools is highly addictive... |

Rubber grease
Blowlamp Axle stands Duck oil Breaker bar Big hammer Impact driver Set of 3/8 and 1/2 drive hex bits, mine's draper expert and it's probably one of the best things I've ever bought. I'd have the abba stand over any paddock stand, tried using allsorts and nothing measures up to it. Currently got a bike upside down on mine, try doing that with paddock stands ![]()
