I've mentioned this site before but I saw some great pics tonight of the old cinema in Wakefield I had to share:
http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/...ad.php?t=28004 The link shows pics of the cinema in its hayday and how it looks now. Anyone who has heard of Leeds International pool will like to look at these: http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/...ad.php?t=27991 I recommend checking out other areas of the site. ![]() |

I used to live in wakefield and my gran lived there untill recently.
The 28days later forum is fascinating. Unfortunately they are a victim of their own success. People are going to their finds, and ruining them, which they don't like. Also the authorities are onto them. Though what do you expect really if you post the info on the net!!?? They even got into a civil engineering industry magazine for their exploits up cranes and on the millenium dome. They had a big 'geek wars' forum argument with pistonheads.com because someone on PH disclosed the location of some of 'their' hidden tunnels in manchester. Made for good reading. |

I reckon the Police should check out some of the places and catch the pikeys and vandals who nick and ruin stuff.
The vast majority of the forum members who produce the reports could be called neo-archiologists. |

The lengths they go to are pretty extreme. Some guys went to the niagra falls and used climbing gear to abseil off a concrete platform (which they had to drill their own hardpoints into because the metalwork was so old) to get photos of the old hydroelectric generators and tunnels.
It's brilliant, I love reading it... but all that crawling around at night is almost a bit wierd. |

I stumbled across the site a couple of weeks back and spent the next 4 hours on it.

Yeah it is interesting, I currently live just outside Wakefield. I love old history like that and looking at old photos of places. Cool find.
