I have an Arai Condor lid that has a Pin-Loc visor and since I have had it I have used the Anti-Fog insert. The trouble I find with this is that it cuts down on nightime vision on roads without street lights.
A couple of years ago I tried washing up liquid and it did not work. I read another thread about it on here and it seems I should have not given up so easily. The thread says to use a small drop and spend 5 minutes polishing the inside of the visor for it to be effective. I used a single drop and spread it around with a piece of kitchen towel. I then buffed it off with a Micro-Fibre cloth and it took just seconds to polish out not 5 minutes. When I did this a couple of years ago I usd kitchen towel which left it smeary because I did not spend 5 minutes on it. Using the breath test it seems to work as it will mist on the outside surface but not the inside. I will be riding to work in he morning and will update you all with how I got on. Asda sell Micro-Fibre cloths for 86 pence so why do Halfrauds charge you up to about £8 for one? Tim |

I've just bought a foggy and seems tops......used the WUL method before and it did work.....1 thing.....
I wouldn't use kitchen role, some have additives in them and the effect can be that the additives smeer and you get streeks when looking at lights etc. I found use a piece of toilet paper, rub the WUL in, allow it to dry for a while and the buff till it is no longer visible.....seemed to work well for me.

Yeah some kitchen towels are abbrasive and can scratch your visor if used a lot. I think some 4000 grade micro sandpaper should polish them them out though.

Are you using a clear insert? I use a fog city stick in thingy and it does a very good job, but it's the one that changes colour and I find it blurrs streetlights at night. I think the inserts and fog city things are the best anti fog products available. I tried the wipe from V2. It was good but after a while I had condensation running down the visor and it looked like a windscreen on a car without the wipers on.

The March edition of "Ride" has a product test of anti fog treatments and inserts.
Fog Tech won the best buy triangle and is available at http://www.visorvision.co.uk Washing up liquid came last. |

I once tried an anti fog fluid but it didn't work at all on either the visor or my car windscreen. Worked fantastic on the bathroom mirror though!
I used a proper breath deflector insert which was great but I was afraid of being suffocated if it came loose in an accident as it would get sucked onto your face. Was very good though and reduced wind noise too. The Shoei pinlock thing works fantastic for me but I usually just use my non pinlock visor with washing up liquid. Takes a lot of effort to buff away the smears but seems to work great especially in conjunction with a basic breath deflector which is part of the helmet as opposed to the full face hugging type. |

Ok, here is the promised update.
First impressions are quite good. The visor did not steam up. With it completly closed you do notice some moisture build up which begins to distort vision a bit. With the visor slightly open this did not happen. I must point out that I ride with a neck tube over my chin, so it cuts off the ventilation from underneath. Ride Magazine obviously did not apply and polish off the washing up liquid properly. My visor was perfectly clear no smearing at all. I did get this when I did it 2 years ago but the differences are only 1 small drop and the Micro-Fibre cloth. Don't use kitchen towel to polish it out. So apply 1 small drop to inside of visor. Use kitchen towel to spread around visor surface. Polish off with Micro-Fibre cloth (86 pence from Asda) I will post further updates over the next few days. Tim |
