Default EVOTECH Tail Tidy - Help!!!

Just arrived thinking it might be simple enough for a bell-end like me to fit.

Read through the instructions and doubt I have the tools needed let alone the ability..............

Any advice, help or recommendations of where I can go to get it fitted would be appreciated.

A dealer will help, but charge you a fortune! Uh... if I remember rightly you'll only need a screw driver and socket set. Just need to remove the rear cowl, unbolt the the snow shovel, bolt on the tail tidy and swap over the indicators and number plate. Its very easy really!

It is quite easy if you take your time. I wouldn't give money away to have it fitted. You seriously need to do it yourself.....

I'd give you a hand if you were nearer.

I'm just worried about ending up with the bike in bits and being unable to finish the job off.

Take it nice and slowly, start in the morning so you have all day of sun light to help you out (if you do not have a lit garage). Whenever someone brings a new bike for me to tinker with I break out the old plastic containers, very handy for storing the bolts from specific areas in (don't forget to label the containers). If you have to get a digital camera/mobile phone camera and take pictures of the stages you dismantle the rear seat cowl in. Simply follow the pictures in reverse to install.

As I said before....

You will be proud of yourself when you have finished, shame you live so far away from me I would be happy to help guide you through it (its more important that you do the work).

Good luck

I'm not too sure how I ended up with the evotech one as I wanted the hamicad, will the instructions be similar?

I am always proud of myself when I do (for most people) the simplest things, I really want to try this but I even managed to take ages fitting the hugger......

The Evotech tail tidy is a little confusing at first, but stick with it and it goes in OK.

The tools you need are basic at best, socket set, a couple of spanners (some of the nuts you can't get to with a socket).

I have a picture of my bike with all the rear plastics off (from when I fitted my Evotech), but I won't show it yet, because it scared the bejeebus out of most folks that saw it - I have a LOT more wires on my bike than most.

I took the rear plastics off so I could get access to everything, but you don't need to.

It's literally just a matter of unbolting the snowshovel, and this then practically drops off. Pull the plastic down that comes from the battery box (maybe have to loosen a few bolts/pop-rivets here - don't snap pop-rivets!!).

Oh yea, don't forget to remove your plate light from the snowshovel and bolt it to the tail tidy. With mine came a handy advertising sticker, which I put on the plate light, so I have a rear reflector (required by law).

Then IIRC, there's a plate that comes with the tailtidy, bolt this to the bike, then put the plastic flap back, and finally bolt the tail tidy to the plate.

Tip: Get some silican sealer (or similar), then when the tailtidy is fitted, and indicator wires re-routed etc, smear the sealant from the inside (under the pillion seat) where the tailtidy meets the rest of the bike. That'll stop the water spray from the rear wheel coming towards the fuse box.
