Unhappy lost keys

right then,my 19 year old son has lost the keys to our shared sv 650,its an o2 model,he has gone back to university and lost the *******s.
i have managed to get the seat lock undone and the seat lock off the bike, now then, there is a number on the lock barrel, does anyone know if this number will get me the correct key for that lock and as it was the same key for the ignition i wont have to go to the expense of buying both a new seat lock and a full ignition switch.
regards .

we had the black sv 650 s before we got this sit-up model ,and that was beautiful, lots more power than this model,i even had it restricted so my son could use it ,and it had more power than this has.lovely carbon can on it,it sounded the dogs.having said that i got the sv s brand new ,but this one we got with 35000 miles on the clock.and it does smoke slightly .maybe its just a bit worn out.

stuffed, you will need to take the ignition key bolts off and then take the top yoke off, you can then take the ignition all off then swap it out.

if you take the barrel 2 a key place/lock smith then can some how make you another key for the same barrl so saves you buying a barrel/lock set.

The key number is only four digits long if that helps? Take it to a locksmith or buy a lockset of ebay or www.svspares.com at a good price, especially compared to Suzuki prices! You may find that your insurance covers it, but usually it will work out cheaper to pay it yourself and keep the insurance company out of it!

many thanks for all your replies, yeah we do share the bike but it is kept locked in my garage, and it now turns out that we only got one key with it,so partly my fault for not getting a spare cut, anyway the barrel does only have 4 numbers on it so will try the local locksmith who is real helpful, when i needed a new ignition key for my vw van with a chip in it,vw garage wanted £58 for it,he did it for £15,so the mans ok by me.
regards all and thanks for the info, have a good year.
regards baz
