Default What should I do to pretty up my trackday fairings?

Just bought some pretty rough fairings off ebay (back door-reserve wasn't met!) and I want to paint them up for the track just to make the bike look a bit nicer for those physics defying photos I'm gonna get from Silverstone. It's a black Daytona 675 and the fairings are black but pretty badly scraped. I thought I'd give them a good rub down and fill if needed and a quick blow over with matt or satin paint.

What do the org's people think?

Yeah go for it, I did that for the last couple of years on a temporary set of bodywork I was only going to use for 1 meeting !

Its somehow satisfying to beat the crap out of some nice shiny Ducati on a scruffy looking rat bike

How dare you! I don't want it to look like a scruffy rat bike! I've got an old tranny outside for that.

Got any piccies?

P.S. I'll be lucky if I get passed the restricted SV boys coming on the trackday.

Got any pics of the damage Darren?

I'll have a better look tomorrow and take some. I don't know if I could call it damage but they certainly haven't been looked after. They might clean up ok. Like I say they're added cash protection for the track. The rear plastic has a whole rubbed through it though which I'm going to try and sort. Don't think I could get any shiny paint good enough.

Gloss white White bikes always looks cool on the track.

Although black and white vehicles are supposed to be a real pain to take photos due to focusing etc.

Put the bike in the garage, mask off the tyres then drop a stick of dynamite into a tin of magnolia and run.....

Eh? How does that work - surely areas of high contrast (and it doesn't get more contrasty than black and white!) would make auto-magical focusing work even easier!

From wikipedia:

"Contrast measurement is achieved by measuring contrast within a sensor field, through the lens. The intensity difference between adjacent pixels of the sensor naturally increases with correct image focus. The optical system can thereby be adjusted until the maximum contrast is detected. This is a common method in video cameras and consumer-level digital cameras that lack shutters. In this method, AF does not involve actual distance measurement at all."

Anyway, geek lesson aside, I would go with a predominantly white bike with black and red detailing. For example:

Obviously not copying these designs, but I think the combination of colours is pretty tasteful and timeless
