First time setup - SV650.org

Hello all!

Despite the weather, this weekend has lead to me buying my first bike, 53 plate sv650 k3! YAY!!!

Just wanted to get some opinions on tyre pressures, suspension setups and any little ticks of the trade/owner advice you might have.

I've read a few bits online:
tyre pressure around 36f and 42r
30-40mm of compression in rear sus when im on the bike with feet on the pegs.

im around 12 stone i think (although my waist does seem to be expanding and i cant use the xmas excuse for much longer! only joking). needless to say , being fresh to biking, i'll be without pillion for a good while and will just be "pottering" around the country lanes finding my feet.

I know everyone has a personal preference but who better to ask than people who, like myself, love the SV!

I forget who said hello to me and reminded me that the bike is only as quick as my right wrist, thanks for a truly wise piece of advice! plan on furthering my learning as soon as poss with IAM type training.

IMHO if you are new to biking, then start off with standard pressures, 33 front and 36 rear. Ride the bike put some miles in and then start fiddling with them. You'll be in a better position to evaluate the changes the extra or loss of pressure make.

Same goes with the suspension, dont fiddle with it till you have got used to the bike, put it all back to or leave it standard for a few months.

If you're a new rider you won't know how the bike is meant to feel.

Also you'll be surprised how much you weigh when fully kitted up!
