Default Feminism

follow on from Lamon's view on feminism. I would just like to point out that feminism is arguably the worlds most sucessful socio-political movement in the West ever.

Its so successful infact that its taken for granted.

Equal rights for women - yes
the vote for women - yes
cant discriminate on sex anymore - yes
does the list goes on - yes

infact, unless you are against these things you are probably technicaly a feminist in the origional sense

have a good day

im all for equal rights.. but its not equal and never will be, the glass ceiling still exists towards business women and potentialy getting preggers.. and if this country ever got invaded.. what majority would defend it.. men.. the idea of complete equality is a myth.. I'm not by anymeans saying this is right but,
IN court you rarely convict "husband beaters".. women cant really be convicted ****ally assualting a man..

Equal rights for women - NO*
the vote for women - yes
cant discriminate on sex anymore - yes

** only the things women want to be equal in...

equality as it says is EQUAL.. no more - no less.. can you honestly say that feminism promotes complete equality? no as they choose what they want to be equal in

All IMO of course

Equal rights are great, but there is no need to go crazy in saying that men and women are equal when they are quite clearly not! If I wanted to employ someone to lug boxes around all day, I would want a man rather than a women because they are stronger. What is wrong with that? Women and men have different skills and should be treated accordingly, making use of these skills. Thats how great partnerships evolve.

i dont think that there will ever be total equality either, there just cant be because we are inherantly differnt.

I dont think there is anything wrong with best person for the job. if a woman cant labor aswell as a man on a building site, then shes the wrong person for the job. same if the guy is weak, hes the wrong person for the job.

same as for sexual assult, a guy will find it very hard to cry rape. and males who are beaten by their wives also find it very hard to make a sucessfull prosecution. But this equality is also one of the goals of femininism.

My ex got taught to do bike and car repairs cos I was fed up of doing everything for the women I've had in my life. I've been expected to learn how to clean, cook, parent, decorate, iron, wash clothes, run around after the kids, gardening and all the other traditionally female jobs in life...so she can bloody well learn how to fix and maintain bikes and cars.

That's not really a gender issue though- if a russian shotputter woman turned up for a construction job, and in the other corner you had me, you'd hire the shotputter
