Default Suzuki Grease Phobia in bearings - Important please read!

I Took my sv1000 shock linkage apart yesterday to clean and grease the bearings up, only to find (a mess) the bearings where red rusty and basicaly totaly nackered. the mileage on my bike? 15,000mls. the parts from suzuki to put this right are around £70. This is probably due to suzuki not putting alot of grease in from the factory but id say if you want to keep your rear suspension working nice and dont want to be paying £70 out for parts get those bearings greased every 10,000mls at least, they have a hard time down there with the heat from the exhaust and all the crap off the roads.

it's an on-going joke - "the suzuki factory must be furthest away from where they manufacture the grease..."

keep meaning to have the DRZ linkage apart and re-grease it (or put some in there...)

bit of a well known fact, most of the joints are almost grease free from the factory, it's well worth dismantaling and greasing them properly as soon as you can, but then I've been saying that about the SV since I got mine, I understand the " it's new so should be alright" thing, but it's just not true

Cheers Mark.

Yup, they're idiots. Or they know how much they make in spares

If I bought a brand new bike I'd hav it straight stripped down to do all the maintenence the factory doesn't bother with!

Like most car manufacturers now they make so much money on parts that they probably do it on purpose. I took my fazer linkage apart at 15,000mls and it was like new!!! Thing with the sv is that it runs very close to the exhaust so that wont help matters.
