Default Intergrated Lights - Question

Heya All

I have read through here that the intergrated lights are illegal......

But, would they still fail MOT or be a risk of being pulled if the standard ones were left on?

The reason I ask is that I have been bought some as a present and they can't be returned (as through Ebay).

Any advice / info would be most appreciated.

Drew

EDIT - Know there have been posts before but none of them mention what the scenario is if you keep the old lights on.

Thanks mate. Really want to fit them because I think they look nice and cause they were a gift. Don't mind having the old ones on too. Hopefully someone will be able to tell me.

Strictly I think they are still illegal as you're not allowed 2 sets of indicators - sounds like something Soulkiss posted - I'm sure it's bllx as some 4x4's have 2 sets of indicators.
Anyway would look rubbish if you left the OEMs on so get them off if you like the integrateds & don't just want to sell on your gift.
Who cares about being a little bit illegal It'll keep your riding honest, can always keep the OEM's for MOT time.

Was thinking maybe just take the standards off, then switch in the old unit for MOT, won't be for 2 years mind!!!! lol. I commute everyday but luckily all twisties and haven't seen a copper in weeks, so that should be ok.

Whats the worse that can happen? Would it be a rectification notice and a ?30 fine?

Yes that would be the worst i.e. no points and IMO you'd have to be very unlucky to even get £30 (unless you go to N. Wales alot) As I was trying to allude to though the real worst is that they attract Police attention which leads to the Police notice your bald tyre, loud exhaust, small plate, tinted visor at night & excess speed on one wheel

Well thats ok then.......have standard plate, my can is a Scorpion Street Extreme but I keep the baffle in......never have bald tyre (replacing my stock tommorow and it has only just started squaring), no tinted visor as have the pull down external Shark one.

Got a few trips to N.Wales coming up, but might just switch the old one back on if and when I go.

Cheers for the advice stu

I've had mine for ages now, use them aswell as the standard indi's connected in and never have any trouble.. Easy to put back to standard if needed but wouldn't have thought you would need to, all depends on the area ofcourse. I've been up and down the motorway many a time and never had any trouble.. I expect they would pick up on it if you got pulled for being a plonker though.
