I've been riding to work and back on the new bike. It's a lovely bike but I'm not impressed with my mirrors/and/or what I can see behind.
There's this big top box in my way. Right mirror I can see something to sometimes quite a bit but left mirror can't really see the car behind me (or the distance). In general I find cars that are close behind me (lots of stopping and starting on my commute) are not really visible. Do you have the same? Are there longer stalks for the mirrors? Any other solutions/ideas? Last edited by wow; 24-04-08 at 02:00 PM. |

Yours is a naked bike, right?
A trip to a local friendly bike accessory shop would do the trick. I was at M&P's near Oxford last week and they had a shelf full of different wing mirrors. Usually the part that locates through the handlebars is a standard thickness so most mirrors should fit. |

Oh thanks. There was me thinking right this bike I'm not going to buy loads of new parts for it, but it has started already. Well I've got a round headlight and I prefer round mirrors to go with that (I think) so that should coincide nicely. Don't want plastic mirrors tho. Last edited by wow; 24-04-08 at 02:06 PM. |

You might find it worth trying bar end mirrors... When mine's got its fairing off I use a ?6 Cateye mountain bike bar end mirror, they really work well. They're more out of your field of vision though so it takes a moment longer for me to glance and use the information from them, but still, they're pretty cool. I might leave one on permanently to supplement the standard S mirrors. I've used them with my top box, no probs.

I know what you mean, they're a bit odd looking...
